Intensive seminar for legally compliant EnMS implementation with certificate

Legal security and energy efficiency for your data center

The German Energy Efficiency Act (EnEfG) requires data centre operators to run an energy or environmental management system. From 1 MW of non-redundant nominal connected load (public bodies from 300 kW), it has had to be validated or certified since 1 January 2026 (Section 12 EnEfG). Our 3-day intensive seminar gives you the knowledge to implement it in line with DIN EN ISO 50001 – tailored to the requirements of data centres.

The Energy Efficiency Act (EnEfG) has been in force since 18 November 2023. It requires data centre operators to set up an energy or environmental management system; a system to DIN EN ISO 50001 counts as an energy management system (Section 3 EnEfG). For data centres from 1 MW of non-redundant nominal connected load – public bodies from 300 kW, operators of information technology from 500 kW – the system has had to be validated or certified since 1 January 2026 (Section 12 EnEfG). Violations can be punished as administrative offences with fines.

Systematic implementation of DIN EN ISO 50001 for data centers

The complex technical systems of a data center – from cooling and climate technology to UPS systems and IT infrastructure – offer significant potential for energy savings. Our seminar precisely addresses these challenges through a methodical approach that combines proven standards with practical application. Based on the High Level Structure of DIN EN ISO 50001 and considering relevant German laws, you develop well-founded competencies for implementing a legally compliant energy management system.

Field-tested methods for your daily work:

The instructors – all active experts from data center planning and optimization – convey not only theoretical expertise but also directly applicable tools for your daily work. You benefit from comprehensive practical examples of successful implementations and learn to avoid typical pitfalls. Through systematic recording and evaluation of energy aspects, you identify concrete optimization measures that both reduce your operating costs and fulfill legal requirements.

In a structured combination of theoretical knowledge transfer and practical exercises, you develop the necessary tools for successful implementation in your data center. The methodical approach and comprehensive documentation ensure optimal knowledge transfer to your daily practice.

Structured knowledge transfer for legally compliant implementation

Systematic content for your successful EnMS implementation

Our methodically structured 3-day program provides you with well-founded expertise for legally compliant implementation of DIN EN ISO 50001 – from legal foundations to practical implementation in your data center.

Legal security through solid compliance

Legal Foundations & Compliance

This module provides you with the central basic knowledge about all current legal requirements for energy management systems in data centers. You receive a systematic overview of the legal framework and its concrete significance for your data center operations. Precise knowledge of these requirements is crucial for legally compliant operation and forms the basis for all optimization strategies.
Legal Foundations & Compliance

In the first part, you develop a deep understanding of the Energy Efficiency Act (EnEfG) with its specific requirements for data centers. You learn the exact specifications and limit values as well as the consequences of non-compliance. Additionally, we cover other relevant laws and regulations (EDL-G, GEG, BECV, EnFG) and their impact on your operations. Using practical examples, it is shown how these requirements can be cost-efficiently considered already in the planning phase.

The second part focuses on the core elements of DIN EN ISO 50001 as an international basis for energy management systems. You learn about the High Level Structure and the PDCA cycle as well as their practical application in the data center context. Special attention is paid to the correct methodology for energy policy development, energy goal setting, and systematic recording of energy indicators (EnPIs). Participants also receive field-tested templates for legally compliant documentation of all compliance requirements.

Legally secure compliance overview:

  • Systematic processing of all relevant laws (EnEfG, EDL-G, GEG)
  • Concrete instructions for deadline compliance
  • Practical implementation of DIN EN ISO 50001 structure
  • Legally compliant documentation and evidence
  • Forward-looking compliance strategies

Systematic implementation of proven methods

EnMS Structure & Setup

In this module, you learn the practical implementation of a structured energy management system according to DIN EN ISO 50001. You develop the competence to establish systematic processes and organizational structures for your data center. The methodical implementation of these proven approaches enables demonstrable efficiency improvements while minimizing operational risks.
EnMS Structure & Setup

The focus is on the systematic setup of an energy management system with clear roles and responsibilities. You learn about integration into existing management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001) and develop efficient integration into existing processes using concrete examples. Through targeted use of proven organizational structures, you receive a robust system with which you can demonstrably control continuous improvement processes.

Additionally, we cover the methodical recording and evaluation of energy aspects as a basis for all optimization measures. You receive detailed insights into the identification of significant energy consumers and their prioritization. The definition and use of an energy baseline is systematically developed, as well as the establishment and monitoring of energy performance indicators (EnPIs). Participants develop a structured methodology for continuous monitoring and evaluation of their energy efficiency.
