Two types of certificate
DCE academy issues two types of certificate: the seminar certificate for each seminar passed and the Data Center Specialist certificate for the completed training path. Both are personal certifications. They certify the qualification of an individual and stay with that person, even after a change of employer. DCE academy does not certify data centers or companies.

Exam
Without a passed exam, there is no certificate.
- 80%
- pass mark: share of correct answers needed to pass
- One week
- to take the exam, link by email after the seminar
- No grades
- the certificate confirms that you passed
- German or English
- certificate to download in DCE Campus
Each seminar ends with an online exam; it is the same in person, in the live webinar, and in the video course. After the seminar, you receive the link to the exam by email and have one week to take it. You pass with 80% correct answers. There are no grades; the certificate confirms that you passed.
The form and scope of the exam differ from seminar to seminar; the questions relate to the learning objectives and key messages of the individual modules. You prepare for the exam in the seminar itself: in person and in the live webinar, you answer daily quizzes in the same form as the exam and discuss the answers together with the trainers. This saves you surprises in the exam: anyone who has taken part in the daily quizzes knows the question types and the level expected.
Once you have passed the exam, you download your certificate in DCE Campus, in German or English, together with the seminar materials. How the seminar itself works is described on the page Process and formats.
Verification
Every certificate can be verified publicly.
- Two ways
- certificate number on the verification page, or verification link
- No login
- and no need to contact DCE academy
- Five details
- valid, for whom, for which seminar, when issued, how long valid
Without logging in and without contacting us, in two ways: by entering the certificate number on the DCE academy verification page or through the verification link that leads directly to your certificate. The check shows whether the certificate is valid, who it was issued to, for which seminar, when it was issued, and how long it is valid. It shows nothing more.
This protects employers and clients from credentials that do not come from us or are no longer valid, and saves you as the holder from having to send copies. Add the verification link to your LinkedIn profile, other professional profiles, or job applications; anyone who opens it sees the verified certificate.
What a DCE academy certificate proves
A DCE academy certificate proves three things: the scope of the qualification, the exam passed, and the standards covered. DCE academy has been training professionals since 2007; more than 1,000 participants have earned its certificate.
Scope
Depending on the seminar, the seminar certificate stands for one, three, or five seminar days with an exam. The Data Center Specialist certificate stands for four seminars that build on each other, with 18 seminar days and four exams passed, from the overall picture of all disciplines through planning and operation to power supply and cooling. The content is described on the seminar pages and in the Data Center Specialist training path.
Exam
Without a passed exam, there is no certificate. It certifies successful participation, not attendance.
Standards covered
The seminars follow the EN 50600 series of standards and its international version, ISO/IEC 22237: the parts on the design of the disciplines (EN 50600‑2‑x), on operation and management (EN 50600‑3‑1), and on key performance indicators (EN 50600‑4‑x).
The standard expects people who work in a data center to have specific skills and counts staff qualification among the characteristics of a mature operation (EN 50600‑3‑1, scope and maturity model). A DCE academy certificate proves that these requirements were learned systematically and confirmed in an exam.
As the exclusive sponsor of the ISO/IEC 22237 working group, DCE academy is informed about every meeting of the standards committee; changes are incorporated into the seminars, often months before publication. This gives you a credential that reflects the current state of the standards.
Limits
What the certificate does not prove: that a data center complies with EN 50600. This is assessed by a certification body in a separate procedure.
Certificates
Frequently asked questions
No. DCE academy issues personal certifications only; it certifies neither data centers nor companies. A data center is certified to EN 50600 by a certification body: it checks whether the design and operation meet the requirements of the standard and of the selected Availability Classes and Protection Classes. How a data center is prepared for this assessment is covered in the seminar Data Center Design & Implementation: in the certification analysis, you assess floor plans, hydraulic schematics, and circuit diagrams against the requirements of the standard and learn how a certification proceeds.
The EN 50600 series sets requirements for data centers: for their design, their operation, and their key performance indicators; an EN 50600 certification therefore relates to the data center. For individuals, a DCE academy certificate proves that they have learned the requirements of the series in a seminar with an exam, with validity, scope, and the standards covered stated on the certificate. For clients and auditors, it is therefore a verifiable proof of qualification.
The seminar certificate does not expire; only the certificate for the seminar Data Center Passport is valid for five years. The Data Center Specialist certificate is valid for three years from issue. With the seminar Update – EN 50600 and ISO/IEC 22237‑x and a passed exam, you renew it for another three years, even if it has already expired.
No. The certificate applies to you as an individual and stays with you when you change employers. The company on the certificate is the one at the time of issue; the verification remains valid as before.
Yes. In-person seminars, live webinars, and video courses end with the same online exam and the same certificate. You download your certificates in DCE Campus and choose between the German and the English version, regardless of the language in which you attended the seminar.
With the certificate number, entered on the DCE academy verification page, or with the verification link that you add to your profile. Both show whether the certificate is valid, for whom, for which seminar, when it was issued, and how long it is valid. Operators use this, for example, when they require the Data Center Passport as proof from external contractors and subcontractors.
